People tend to being confused betwee pinotage and pinot. Indeed the Pinotage was intended to create a more robust Pinot. They crossbreed the standart Pinot (that were dying all accos South Africa) with the very common Cinsault. BUT... they ended up, luckilly, with a deepest grape, unique to South Africa. This grape is now their flagship all accos the country ! Robertson Winery just did this one perfectly!  A perfect pair with all your big meat, steaks and seasoned chicken and more!  
This is absolutely a great grape well produced by a great winery!
